The Story Behind Journals in Blue Silk
Dear Friend,
Welcome to Journals in Blue Silk — I'm so glad you're here.
I have loved paper for as long as I can remember. As a child, I couldn't walk past a stack of stationery without wanting to touch it, smell it, sort it, and keep it.
Long before the internet existed, I had pen pals scattered across the country, and I still remember the particular thrill of checking the mailbox and finding an envelope with my name on it in someone else's handwriting.
Somewhere along the way, life got busier, my pen pals and I drifted apart, and letters like that stopped arriving.
Years later, I found my way back to that same feeling through scrapbooking and then junk journaling — the same joy of paper, texture, and something made by hand.
I think a lot about how fast everything moves now. We have the whole world a click away, and somehow that has made the smaller, slower things feel even more precious.
A letter that took time to write.
A scrap of lace with no real purpose except to be beautiful.
A story that unfolds one month at a time instead of all at once.
That's what I wanted to create here.
Each month, you'll receive a letter from Eleanor, a young woman sitting at her writing desk in a beautiful blue silk gown, writing with quill and ink from another century entirely.
Along with Eleanor's letter, you'll also receive a note from me and a small collection of paper treasures chosen for your own journal pages.
My hope is that opening this envelope becomes a small monthly ritual for you — the way checking the mailbox once was for me.
Something to slow down for.
Something to read.
Something to keep.
Something to create with.
Thank you for letting me share this with you.
I can't wait to see where both of our stories go from here.
With so much gratitude,
Kristin
